About the event
In screenwriting, STORY is what happens. PLOT is how it happens. In this workshop we will divide the lessons into these categories:
PART ONE: - STORY - the different tools we can use to find a cathartic beginning, middle and end with stakes high enough to make us care and worthy heroes. These tools include Kurt Vonnegut's Shapes of Stories, Joseph Cambell's Monomyth, and an explanation of why I don't use Syd Field's Screenplay Paradigm or Save the Cat. We also touch on Dan Harmon's Story Circles.
PART TWO: PLOT - Aristotle's Poetics Crash Course focusing specifically on understanding what cause and effect structure is and the Structural Union of Parts described in Poetics - NOT PLOT PARADIGM.
PART THREE: pitch me your story and let's find the holes in your structure together.
INCLUDED; 23 page ebook with links to more resources included the digital course THE FOUR PILLARS OF STORYTELLING which provides a deeper look at the Monomyth, Literal & Emotional Questions, Point of View in screenwriting and Structure.
